Caption

Hubble Space Telescope and Cat's Eye Nebula. Illustration of the Hubble Space Telescope facing the Cat's Eye Nebula (NGC 6543) in the constellation Draco. Shells of gas (red) have been expelled by a dying star in the centre of the nebula. The intricate patterns in the shells might be caused by the effect of a second star orbiting the dying star. The Hubble Space telescope is the most powerful optical telescope yet constructed. It is shown here with the protective door at the end of the telescope open and with antennae and solar panels outstretched.
