Caption

Little Ghost Planetary Nebula (NGC 6537), optical image. This planetary nebula lies between 2000 and 5000 light-years from Earth, in the constellation of Ophiuchus. A planetary nebula has nothing to do with a planet, instead being formed by shells of gas cast off from a star (centre) near the end of its life. Photographed by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope in February 2002.
