Caption

The central region of our galaxy, the Milky Way, is seen from the constellation of Sagittarius (left) to Centaurus (right). The bright star clouds & dark dust clouds in Sagittarius obscure our view of the centre of the galaxy. The photograph was taken from Australia on April 13, 1986, and shows Halley's Comet as the fuzzy object in the top right corner.
