Optical photograph of the view towards the centre of our galaxy, the Milky Way. The picture shows the region of Sagittarius, bright with millions of stars and nebulae, and intersected by dark dust lanes. The great clouds of dust and gas, and the brilliance of all the stars, obscure the centre of the galaxy itself. The photograph was taken from Ayers Rock, Australia. April 14, 1986. Fuji 400- D pushed to 1600.
