Optical photograph of the spiral galaxy NGC 253, which lies ten million light years away in the constellation of Sculptor. The hot, blue stars of the galactic disc and the cooler, red stars of the nuclear area are easily distinguished. NGC 253 is a member of a sparse cluster of galaxies known as the Sculptor Group.
