Optical processed CCD (Charge Coupled Device) image of the spiral galaxy NGC 7814. NGC 7814 does not show its spiral arms because it is observed across its galactic plane. This plane may be visualised by a line inclined at 45 degrees arising from the bottom left and pointing to the upper right corner. The colouring technique used here emphasises the high degree of symmetry of NGC 7814 which shows a double-lobed structure with respect to its galactic plane. Optical non- processed images show that NGC 7814 has a population of old yellow stars and is characterised by huge regions of interstellar dust along the galactic plane.
