Optical CCD (Charge Coupled Device) image of the small galaxy SEX-A which belongs to our Local Group of galaxies. SEX-A is situated at a distance of about 2.6 million light years from our galaxy. There are about 30 galaxies in the Local Group of which the most important are the Andromeda spiral (M31), our galaxy, the Triangulum spiral (M33) and the two Clouds of Magellan. This image was obtained with blue-green, red and near infrared filters and it may be considered a true colour version. The bright object at the bottom right of the galaxy is a foreground star.
