Galaxy NGC 3486. Optical image of the spiral galaxy NGC 3486. This galaxy is thought to lie between 10 and 20 million light years away, in the constellation Leo Minor. The spiral arms appear blue as they contain a high proportion of hot young stars. This image was made by the CFH12K CCD camera on the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope on Mauna Kea, Hawaii, USA.
