Spiral galaxy. Optical image of the central region of the spiral galaxy NGC 2997. The bright object at top right is a foreground star. NGC 2997 is 55 million light years from Earth in the constellation Antlia. This image was made with the 8.2-metre Very Large Telescope 'Kueyen' at the Cerro Paranal Observatory, Chile.
