Galaxy M90. Optical image of M90 (NGC 4569) a spiral galaxy that lies around 30 million light years away in the constellation Virgo. It is part of the huge Coma-Virgo cluster of galaxies, which occupies a region between 20 and 70 million light years away in this direction. It is similar in size to our own Milky Way galaxy, which is around 120,000 light years across. This image was produced by a CCD (charge-coupled device) in April 1998 at the Kitt Peak National Observatory, Arizona, USA.
