Edge-on spiral galaxy NGC 4565, Very Large Telescope image. The arms of this spiral galaxy are seen from the side. This view silhouettes the dark dust lanes they contain against the bright nucleus. This galaxy, also known as the Needle galaxy for its elongated shape, lies 13.1 million light years away in the constellation Coma Berenices.
