Spiral galaxy M74. This galaxy lies around 35 million light years from Earth in the constellation Pisces. It has several large pink starbirth regions in its spiral arms. These appear pink as the hydrogen gas they contain is ionised by radiation from the hot young stars that formed within them. The central nucleus appears yellower as it contains older stars and denser dust.
