Caption

Barred spiral galaxy NGC 3628. This galaxy is seen edge on from Earth, so its spiral arms are only visible as a dark lane of dust crossing the nucleus. It is one member of the Leo Triplet of galaxies in the constellation Leo, which also includes the galaxies M65 and M66 (neither seen). These three galaxies all lie around 35 million light years from Earth.
