Active galaxy 0313-192. Combined Hubble Space Telescope and radio telescope image of bipolar jets (red) coming from the spiral galaxy 0313-192. The jets comprise subatomic particles travelling at nearly the speed of light, which are thought to have been accelerated and focused by a massive, rapidly-spinning black hole at the galaxy's core. It was formerly thought that such jets were only produced by elliptical galaxies or those colliding with other galaxies. Abell 428, and it is thought that interactions from other members may aid the formation and maintenance of the jets.
