Caption

The Universe. Computer graphic impression of the Universe. Hundreds of spiral galaxies, stars, col- oured dust-clouds and other phenomena are dotted against a black background. In the centre a black hole (not seen) is drawing matter into it from a colossal, glowing white spiral. This image might represent one of the hypothetical models of how the Universe could end. The model proposes that the currently expanding Universe will eventually begin to contract under the force of its own grav- ity, until everything disappears in a "Big Crunch" (the opposite of the Big Bang).
