Reduced Gravity Walking Simulator. Technicians preparing a test subject for studies on reduced gravity conditions, as part of the Apollo project. The test subject is wearing a pressurised suit, and the floor is at an angle that allows only one-sixth of his weight to be supported by it. The remainder is supported by a suspension system. As this mimics the Moon's gravity, researchers can then study different aspects of walking on the lunar surface, such as fatigue limit, energy expenditure and speed of locomotion. Photographed inside a hangar at NASA's Langley Research Center in Virginia, USA, on 11th December 1963.
