Apollo 11 Lunar Module over the surface of the Moon, artwork. This Lunar Module, called "Eagle", was the first to land a human on the Moon. It touched down on 20th July 1969 in the Sea of Tranquility. The Lunar Module carried the astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin. The other member of the mission, Mike Collins, remained in the orbiting Command & Service Module (not seen). The mission returned to Earth on the 24th July.
