Shuttle launch. View of Space Shuttle Columbia on mission STS-5 as it climbs through the atmosphere during its launch. Mission STS-5 flew from 11-16 November 1982. During the mission it deployed a Satellite Business Systems SBS-3 satellite, the first commercial satellite carried in the Shuttle programme. It also deployed an Anik C3 communications satellite. Both of these satellites were later boosted by their own motors to geostationary orbits.
