Space shuttle cockpit after landing. US astronaut Kenneth D. Cockrell in the cockpit of the space shuttle Columbia after landing at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA, on 7 December 1996. Cockerell was the commander of the shuttle during mission STS-80, leading a crew of four other NASA astronauts into space. They ascended into Earth orbit to carry out microgravity experiments and deploy two research satellites.
