Heating water in a beaker over a bunsen burner. The thermometer in the beaker shows that the current temperture of the water is 30 degrees Celcius. Pure water boils at a temperature of 100 degrees Celsius at the standard atmospheric pressure of 101.325 kilopascals. The boiling point can be raised by increased atmospheric pressure or impurities in the water and lowered by low atmospheric pressure.
