Spacewalk. Astronaut Winston E. Scott performs a spacewalk during a Space Shuttle Mission. A spacewalk is also known as ExtraVehicular Activity (EVA). An EVA spacesuit provides an astronaut with oxygen, heating and a means of propulsion, allowing a person to float free of the shuttle. The air pressure inside the spacesuit is only about a third of that inside the shuttle. Photographed during space shuttle mission STS-87 (19 November to 5 December 1997), during which astronauts from the shuttle Columbia performed two EVAs.
