Space shuttle Discovery docking with the International Space Station (ISS) on 6th July 2006 during mission STS-121. Prior to docking Discovery presented its heat shield to the ISS for photographic analysis, which showed that there was no significant damage, and a spacewalk would not be needed to make any repairs before the shuttle's return on the 17th July. On the shuttle's 12 day mission the crew will test new equipment and procedures to improve shuttle safety, as well as deliver supplies and make repairs to the ISS. This is the 115th shuttle flight and the 18th US flight to the ISS.
