Space walk. Astronaut Andrew Thomas on the second space walk during mission STS-102 to the International Space Station (ISS). The Space Shuttle Discovery flew this mission from 8-20 March 2001. Thomas is working in Discovery's cargo bay. On the mission, the ISS was outfitted and the first ISS crew was taken back to Earth. The three members of the second crew were brought up to the ISS on Discovery. The ISS is a joint effort between NASA, the European Space Agency, the Russian space agency, Canada, Japan and Brazil. The ISS, which should be completed in 2004, has been manned since late 2000. Photographed on 13 March.
