Lunar spacecrafts. Artwork of the Orion spacecraft docked with a lunar lander while in orbit around the Moon. Orion is the crew exploration vehicle for NASA's Constellation Program, a US space program that was announced in 2004. Orion will launch by around 2014, and the program is intended to put astronauts back on the Moon by 2020. The Orion spacecraft will remain empty while the crew of four astronauts descend in the lunar lander to explore the moon's surface. After the crew ascend from the Moon, they will reboard the Orion spaceship to travel back to Earth.
