Cosmonaut training. Soviet cosmonauts Valery N. Kubasov (1935-2014) and Alexei A. Leonov (born 1934) training in the Voskhod 2 landing capsule. This mission launched on 18 March 1965, carrying Leonov (flight engineer) and Pavel I. Belyayev (commander). Leonov's famous spacewalk (EVA), the first ever, was made during this mission. Kubasov would later make three journeys into space as part of the Soyuz program. There were two Voskhod missions, the spacecraft being designed to carry up to three cosmonauts. The program was cancelled after problems during the Voskhod 2 mission.
