Caption

Mining of an Asteroid. Artist's impression of an asteroid with attached engines being driven past the planet Mars. The asteroid is being moved from the asteroid belt for mineral mining near Earth. Asteroids are lumps of material that coalesced out of the same dust cloud that formed the Earth. They probably contain many minerals also found on Earth. The asteroid belt is an area between the planets of Mars and Jupiter which contains most of the asteroids in the solar system.
