High gravity alien world. Artwork of alien life forms on a planet with high surface gravity. A rocky planet that is 1.2 times larger in diameter than the Earth would have twice the Earth's mass and three times its surface gravity. Life forms would evolve to survive the crushing pressures, so will be stockily built, with flattened, low profile bodies. Such a planet is likely to have a dense atmosphere and constant cloud cover, creating a greenhouse effect. To sustain life, the planet should be far enough away from its parent star to avoid a runaway greenhouse effect, such as on the planet Venus.
