Worker inside a large oil production condenser. Modern oil recovery techniques use steam injection to make underground oil more fluid, thus increasing the rate of production. As the hot oil comes to the surface, it has to be cooled in one of these condensers. This also allows the recovery of any light oil fractions that may have vaporised.
