Oil storage tank inspection. View of a worker inspecting an oil storage tank from the top of a staircase. Once oil has been produced from an oil field, it is treated with chemicals and heat to remove water and solids, and the natural gas is separated. The oil is then stored in a tank, or battery of tanks, such as seen here. It is later transported to a refinery by lorry, railway tank car, barge, or pipeline.
