Hydrogen tank at a self-sufficient solar powered house. This house uses electricity generated by solar power to split water into the gases hydrogen and oxygen by electrolysis. The hydrogen is stored and used for cooking. The gases can be recombined in a fuel cell to generate electricity during periods of low levels of sunlight. This demonstration house in Freiburg, Germany was completed in 1992.
