Solar heat collector. This device is typically placed on the roof of a building and uses the heat in sunlight to heat water supplies for that building. The water is piped through the tubes, which absorb heat from sunlight and pass the heat to the water. This saves energy and reduces heating costs. It also avoids the use of power-generation methods that produce pollution, such as burning fossil fuels. This one is on display at the Centre for Alternative Technology, in Wales.
