Sizewell B under construction. Night-time view of the Sizewell B nuclear power station under construction. Sizewell B will be the first pressurised water reactor (PWR) to be built in the UK. Sited on the coast of Suffolk, it is due for completion in 1994, and will cost a total of #2 billion. Once on line, the Westinghouse reactor will generate up to 1200 MW (million watts) of electricity. Plans exist for a second PWR at Sizewell (Sizewell C) and one at Hinkley Point, Somerset. Plans for a further two identical PWRs were dropped in 1992.
