Thermal power station. Worker in the machine room of the Novosverdlovsk thermal power station. Gas turbine-driven generators are used to provide warm water to heat nearly a third of the city's residential areas, instead of homes having their own central heating system. The maximum per-hour capacity is 12,000 cubic metres of water heated to 120 degrees Celsius. Photographed in 2006, in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
