European electrical plugs. A collection of different designs of electrical plugs from various European countries. The yellow three-pin plug with white cable (at top centre) is the UK and Eire standard plug. Other plugs can be distinguished by the colour of their cables: red (Belgium, France, Greece and Spain); green (France, Germany, Greece, Italy and Luxembourg); blue (Italy); and yellow (Belgium, Denmark, France, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and UK). Plugs are used to make an electrical connection when inserted into sockets. Different countries have varying power rating in their electricity supply, hence the need for different types of plug.
