Battery recharging. Large car battery being recharged. Batteries such as this one convert chemical energy into electrical energy. By applying a current in the opposite direction to that produced, the charger reverses the chemical reaction. In effect, the battery's "fuel" is recreated. When the charger is removed, the battery works as usual.
