Caption

Robot museum guard. A Cybermotion SR2 robot touring through a gallery at the Los Angeles County Museum, California. SR2 is used primarily to detect fire, steam or gases which may endanger valuable exhibits. It navigates the museum galleries using a built-in electronic map, backed up by ultrasonic detectors and a collision- avoidance system. The robot uses video cameras, infrared and microwave detectors to sense movement and has temperature, smoke and humidity sensors. Its computer uses 'fuzzy logic' to assess the environmental data, alerting security personnel if it thinks that there is any danger to the exhibits.
