Robot cleaner. Passenger looks on in amazement as the Hefter Robot Cleaner cleans the floor near him at Manchester Airport, England. This robot can clean 20,000 square metres of floor each day. It is equipped with laser scanners and ultrasonic detectors to prevent it from colliding with objects or people. It also says "Excuse me, I am cleaning" if someone blocks its path, as well as advising people about airport security and no smoking rules. After initial guidance it can memorise routes through the airport, storing a map of all the places it has been. This robot was introduced by Initial Air Services. It was developed by the German company Hefter Cleantech.
