Robot dog. Japanese toy robot dog known as AIBO (Artificial Intelligence Robot). AIBO, Japanese for buddy, can perform several tasks that a real dog would. These include, barking, falling over and getting up, sleeping and walking. These preset tasks are programmed into the robot's computer. The robot is activated by remote control but it also has a video camera in its head and pressure sensors in its body. These allow it to respond to visual and physical cues from its owner. AIBO has two LED eyes which will light up red when the dog is angry and green when it is happy. It also has motion sensors to aid balance. AIBO is manufactured by the Sony corporation of Japan.
