A microwave relay station in France. Towers such as this are employed as links in the French telecommunications network, transmitting and receiving phone, telex and data communications. The drum-shaped aerials use microwave frequencies to beam signals to other similar towers. The towers have to be located so as to ensure an unobstructed path between them.
