Telephone handset that was popular in Britain in the 1950s. Telephones such as this were provided by the British General Post Office (GPO) from 1958. The user would rotate a perforated wheel (centre right) to dial the desired telephone number. The internal mechanism contained round telephone bells which rang to alert the user of an incoming call.
