Mobile telephone. Mobile or cellular telephone with part of its outer casing removed to show its inner circuitry. Mobile telephones use low-power radio signals to transmit to an antenna in the user's local area, or cell. The call will then be connected to another mobile telephone, or, if necessary, a conventional telephone exchange. Mobile telephones can be used anywhere as long as the radio signal to the antenna is strong enough.
