Caption

Mobile phone radiation monitoring. Scientist using a conical dipole (on tripod) to measure the strength of a radiofrequency electric field from a microcell base station for mobile phones. A microcell is a cell in a mobile phone network that covers a small area, usually in city centres or places with a high volume of mobile phones users, such as airports. The microcell base station uses power control to limit the area it covers, typically having a radius of less than 1.5 kilometres.
