Part of a BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) outside broadcast unit. The truck acts as a mobile satellite ground station. The satellite dish aerial, shown here, is collapsible allowing it to be stowed safely inside the truck during transportation. It is used to beam the signals to a satellite in orbit. They are then relayed back down to the BBC's network of radio transmitters for broadcast. The system releases program makers from the restriction of having to produce all radio programs from within the studio.
