Goldstone radio antenna at sunset. The Goldstone tracking station in southern California, USA, is home to a number of radio antennae like this one. Together they form part of NASA's Deep Space Network - a worldwide network of communications facilities used to communicate with spacecraft far out in the Solar System, such as Galileo and Magellan. The Goldstone station is also involved in the SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence) project, in which a number of radio antennae across the globe scan the sky for radio signals from alien civilisations.
