Satellite dishes. View of dish antennae at a satellite communication ground station. They are part of the global Intelsat satellite communications network. Microwave transmissions are received from Intelsat satellites, the signal being reflected by the dish and concentrated onto a central receiver. These large dishes relay television, voice and data transmissions from one ground station to another through their satellites. Geostationary Intelsat satellites orbit the planet at the same rotational speed as the Earth, thereby maintaining their positions relative to the ground. Photographed near Brewster International Gateway, Washington, USA.
