Conductive polymer sensors. Conductive polymers, such as polypyrrole, allow the passage of an electric current due to their unusual molecular structures. The conductivity of the polymer may be affected by the presence of impurities, either on the surface or absorbed. This makes them ideal for chemical sensors, as their conductivity may be directly related to the concentration of a chemical in a fluid or vapour.
