Telephone exchange. Technicians work at equipment at a telephone exchange. They are checking the circuitry of the type used in switchboards. It is at exchanges such as this one that the number dialled by the caller is interpreted and directed toward the person receiving the telephone call. Telephone exchanges occur at the local, national and international level of calling. If a call is made at national or international level, then it will travel through more than one exchange.
