Circuit board testing. Microchip on a computer circuit board being tested by having a spark of electricity fired at it. This quality control check tests whether that the component will be resistant to damage from static electricity. Static electricity can build up on objects and people. The sudden surge in current which occurs when the static discharges through a spark can damage some sensitive electronic components.
