Pneumatic transport of cash. A technician setting identification codes on a terminal of a Multi-cash system. This uses small cylindrical containers to carry cash through a system of tubes, propelled by air pressure. A magnetic strip on the container holds data about its destination, a computer system then routes the container through the correct tubes. Such systems are increasingly seen in banks and at supermarket check-outs. The system's rapid response time means that only small amounts of cash are kept by each teller or check-out post, a useful security precaution against crime.
