Pentium computer chip. Light micrograph of the surface of a Pentium chip from a computer. This integrated circuit has been made by imprinting microscopic, electronic components onto the surface of a wafer of silicon. Integrated circuits can be made much smaller than non- integrated circuits which consist of separate components. Pentium chip's are manufactured by Intel, which in 1997 is one of the world's leading computer chip manufacturers. Magnification: x10 at 5x7cm size. Magnification: x 13 at 6x9cm size.
